# Logmoth pricing

Pricing snapshot: 2026-10-20, from the Logmoth control-plane billing implementation.
All amounts are USD. The live catalog returned by
`GET https://control.logmoth.com/api/organizations/{organization_id}/billing`
is authoritative for a signed-in organization; use its values before creating an instance.

## Managed Logmoth

Each instance runs on dedicated compute. You share nothing with other customers.

Yes, it's more expensive, but by O($50/month). Compute is not the bottleneck.
That overhead is not a quoted plan price or a separate $50 surcharge.
Your selected plan determines the compute price; storage is billed separately.

| Plan | vCPUs | Memory | Monthly reference price |
| --- | ---: | ---: | ---: |
| Small | 2 | 8 GiB | $140.00 |
| Medium | 8 | 32 GiB | $556.00 |
| Large | 16 | 64 GiB | $1,112.00 |

Instance compute is prorated as `monthly price × billable hours ÷ 730`, with billable hours
measured to the second; each invoice line is rounded to the nearest cent.
Billing begins when an instance is running and stops when deletion is requested.
A failed setup is not billed. A calendar month's compute total depends on its actual
billable hours; the monthly reference price uses 730 hours.

Storage is $0.027 per GB-month, using decimal GB (1,000,000,000 bytes). While an instance
is running, Logmoth records once per hour how many bytes it keeps in S3 (write-ahead log,
data slices, and index files); each sample counts for one hour. The charge is total
byte-hours × $0.027 ÷ (10⁹ × 730). Each month, you’re charged for the previous month’s
compute and storage usage, measured by the UTC calendar month.

Regions: us-east-1 (US East, N. Virginia; the default) and us-west-1 (US West,
N. California), at the same listed prices.

For example, a Small instance running for 730 hours with a constant 1,000 GB of
measured storage for those hours has $140 compute + $27 storage = $167 in these
usage charges. This is an illustration, not a quote or a guarantee of total charges.

Owners manage payment methods and invoices in the dashboard. All organization members
can view usage and the invoice list. Month-to-date charges and projected month totals come from the usage
API; projections assume running instances remain on their plans and storage stays at
its latest measurement. Deleted instances may still contribute to that month's charges.
After an instance's deletion completes, its S3 data is kept for 30 days and then permanently
deleted. Kept data is not billed and cannot be accessed or restored through the API.

## Homepage storage calculator

The homepage calculator is a storage-only estimate using an S3 Standard us-west-1
rate snapshot. It is not the managed Logmoth billing calculator or a total-service quote.
It excludes compute, requests, and transfer.

Input is the amount of logs you want to **store**, in decimal TB. No compression factor
is applied: enter the expected stored footprint, not raw ingestion volume assuming an
undocumented compression ratio. Actual compression depends on the data.

The calculator converts TB to GiB and applies these monthly storage tiers:

- First 51,200 GiB: $0.026 per GiB.
- Next 460,800 GiB: $0.025 per GiB.
- Remaining GiB: $0.024 per GiB.

Its default 2.09 TB produces approximately $50.61/month in estimated storage costs.
These calculator rates are a snapshot; they are not a live cloud-provider quote.
For managed Logmoth, use the compute and storage pricing above, or the live catalog in the
dashboard.
